While working for our largest client, Tauseef has done some impressive work. One of the project managers told us: “Tauseef is a pleasure to work with. He is working on a project where I can’t always devote my attention, but I never worry because Tauseef has a handle on the issues. He understands them well because he asks thoughtful insightful questions. When he knows I won’t be able to answer questions for a few days, he takes the time to work ahead and review the items not yet started to get the information from me he will need. Tauseef codes with foresight. He anticipates issues that could occur and addresses them now, rather than waiting until we are so far into a feature that we have to stop and pivot and make major changes. Tauseef is fun to work with and has a great sense of humor and it is a pleasure to work with him every day.”
“Tauseef is a rock star for our team. His communication and programming skills are awesome, and he needs very little attention from me as a team leader of their projects. He is great at making technical decisions, as well as communicating with his client and team. In short, he has proved to be a priceless asset,” said Atta, Tauseef’s Dedicated Team Lead.
We chatted with this coding master to learn what makes him tick.
So, tell us a little about yourself. Where were you born and where did you grow up?
I was born in Karachi, and I grew up in Karachi and other cities including Okara in Punjab.
How did you end up in Lahore if you don’t mind me asking?
All of my family has moved around the country and abroad for education and their occupations. So when my father returned from abroad and was appointed to a place near Lahore, all my family that was in Pakistan moved to Lahore.
What is your favorite thing about living in Lahore? Or do you like Karachi better?
I like Karachi more, but Lahore has its own charm. The historical buildings and museums fascinate me a lot.
What do you and your family do together in your free time?
We chat, dine at home, dine out, and go to movies. When we are not going out we discuss our small garden, improvements that can be made in the home, and our pets.
What do you grow in the garden?
We grow some fancy plants, and we have a banana tree. We harvested its first crop a couple of months ago.
What pets do you have?
I have aquariums and two different types of parrots. One is a green Ring-neck and the other four are Budgies.
Do the parrots talk?
The Ring-neck is named “Totu,” with soft T as in my name. Parrots mimic things, but mine is still just two months old, although he’s covered with green plumage now. My siblings are trying to make him mimic words, and so far he tries to say his own name and also responds when called by name.
So what other personal hobbies and interest do you have?
My major hobby is aquariums and then gardening. Although we have a gardener, I enjoy doing lots of stuff by myself. Other than that, I read articles and look at the globe and photographs of places from around the world.
Have you traveled anywhere interesting before?
Yes, I went to Saudi Arabia and lived there for four months. It was really interesting to see people from all over the world. I saw the red sea, and saw the desert and livestock farms there, which was really interesting. I tracked the dry rock mountains and did so much more.
What is next on your list for travel plans?
I am planning to explore Pakistan. I will be going to some places in August, and then will take a long weekend to go to a hill station by the end of this year. The trip to Kashmir with the office was very exciting.
So Tauseef, what is your favorite: movie, food, and color?
My favorite movie is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I love barbecues and my favorite color is navy blue.
So Tauseef, what got you started in the IT field? Why did you pick this career?
I have been very inquisitive since childhood, and IT is the most wonderful domain of our time. That’s why I was inclined towards IT. My mother used to say I would become a researcher. Electricity, magnets, plants, insects, I just wanted to know and understand all these things. IT was the most challenging thing to get a hold of. I am still very curious. I just want to know how it all works. Asking ‘how’ is more interesting to men than asking ‘why.’
Did you attend college?
I did four years for my Bachelors, and then my Masters which is eighteen years of education total. The next level is the PhD.
What college and university did you attend and what are your degrees in?
My latest degree is my Masters of Computer Science in Software Engineering from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, better known as “FAST.” Before that I did my Bachelors in Computer Science from the University of Karachi.
Do you have a favorite framework to work in?
I work in the .NET framework. Everything else revolves around it. I have worked on Dynamics AX and I liked that very much. It has its own language X++ and its own IDE called Morph X. Microsoft Dynamics Axapta or MDAX is a complete ERP system. My client doesn’t do any work in this, but for them I have worked on Signal R integrated with Knockout JS. That’s what I’m “famous” for.
So what is your favorite thing about the Lahore office?
The Lahore office is very neat and every one here, including myself, contributes and volunteers with all sorts of different things. I am myself am the .NET Lecture Manager at Lahore office. Our office has a very friendly, healthy, and lively environment.
Tauseef organized the office arm wrestling competition for the Lahore office, and competed in all the fitness competitions. Tauseef also enjoys going to the movies with the office, and most recently saw Fast and Furious 7. If he could play any role in a movie, he’d love to play an adventurous character. Preferably one that rides horses, fights with swords, and does real good.
