Moreover Qasim has excellent, polite personality and he supports his team all the time. Qasim is a dedicated, punctual, straightforward, and intellectual person. He is a man full of ideas. So Qasim, what got you started in the IT field? Why did you choose this career path?
Well, I came to this field accidently. I initially wanted to study to be a civil engineer, but I couldn’t get admission in some good universities. So my elder brother thought I should try IT, and he helped me getting admission to Punjab University in a computer science program. The great thing about that was I touched a computer for the first time in my life. However, over the passage of time I developed lot of interest in computer science.
So did you graduate from Punjab University?
I graduated from the University of Punjab, also known as PUCIT, in 2007.
Very nice! So you have about 7 years of experience in this field?
To be precise its about 6.5 years, because after graduation I went back to my hometown near Jhelum to live with my parents for few months. During that time I worked as assistant radio jockey in a local Radio station for 5 months or so. We used to host a live transmission on Sunrise FM95, where we chatted with callers on the phone and played their favorite music.
Tell us a little about your experiences working with our company.
It has been really amazing, though it was a tough decision because of the hours, it proved a worthy decision in the end. The best thing I learned here is the importance of time and how I can best manage my time. Working here taught me that.
What are you personal interests/hobbies?
I have a dog named Jon Snow, and I like to take him for walks, feed him, and play with him. Snow is an American Eskimo dog; I got him when he was 14 days old. He is a very intelligent and adorable boy. I have my sister with me who helps me to take care of Jon Snow. It’s not a one-man show to bring up a pet all alone. Other than that I like to watch lots of movies, current affair programs, play cricket and table tennis. My favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. I have won official table tennis titles too many times. Sometimes I play my all-time favorite computer game “Red Alert 2: Yuri’s revenge.” I have played this game for hours in one sitting while I was in university.
So tell us a little about your family
I live with my parents, sister, and brother. My father has served in the Pakistan Armed Forces for 32 years, and my mother is a housewife. My father is a very well ordered person, and always put emphasis on having discipline in our lives.
My mom is a very good cook of traditional meals. I have learned to cook a few dishes, and my family believes I am good cook too.
What is your favorite dish of hers?
I like the chicken biryani that she makes, and my favorite food is mutton karahi.
Qasim’s favorite book is the Quran, and his favorite colors are black and blue. Several of his favorite movies are Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, and Sherlock Holmes. Qasim participates in the office table tennis competitions, and was also the division champion during his college years.
