So, how about we start with what got you started in IT! What first sparked your interest?
When I was studying in the Department of Physics, I took several courses, like Digital Physics and Mathematica, that interested me in Computer Science. Then I got admission to the Computer Science Department in 1996.
Tell us about your experiences working in the company.
The environment is very friendly, and all of us cooperate together very well.
What is your favorite framework to work with? Why?
I am working in Data Warehousing and BI, so we have to be prepared to work in any platform as required. I prefer to work using Microsoft tools though, and I also like Oracle, IBM Datastage, and SAP Business Objects.
What, in your opinion, are the key ingredients in guiding and maintaining successful business relationships?
Those would be following customer requirements, understanding task priority, respect for your team, and delivering projects on time.
What is a typical “day in your work life” like for you?
First, I check my email and review my to-do list and get everything in order. Then I start work based on the priority of my tasks. I try to take a 5-10 minute walk after dinner while I’m on break. During the second part of the shift we usually have some meetings, and I compile materials for those. In the middle of the day I try to read important or valuable training material for my client for 15-30 minutes, and then at the end of the day I post my summary of the work I’ve done.
What are the most important skills and abilities in order to remain successful in this career?
You need to work with a good and positive attitude. Keep yourself up to date on the current tools, technologies, and trends. Lastly, work with a balanced schedule for your job and personal growth.
What is your favorite: color, movie, and food?
My favorite color is green and I enjoy watching comedy movies. The foods I enjoy are biryani, karahi, tikka, pizza, Chinese soups, and Manchurian chicken. As for fast food, I like Chicken Broast and Zinger Burger.
What do you and your family like to do in your free time?
I like to spend time with my children, play games, watch talk shows, and go to my friends’ gatherings. My family likes to go out to dinner, go shopping, and go out to amusement parks or shows.
Do you have any personal hobbies?
I enjoy reading books about technology and religious matters. I also like taking part in social activities.
Have you traveled anywhere interesting? If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’ve been to the northern areas of Pakistan. It is heavenly beautiful there. There are beautiful places I’d like to see all over the world, but first I’d like to perform the Umrah or Hajj pilgrimages. Then I’d like to see the UAE, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, and of course the U.S., especially Allshore’s office.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
I just want to do my best for humanity and peace.
Do you have a nickname?
My kids call me Baba and my little nephew calls me Tata.
If you could do anything you wanted right now, what would it be?
I would love to take a nap!
How would you describe yourself? And how would your friends describe you?
I would say that I take on challenges and I struggle for the good things in life. I like to work positively and humbly. I think my friends would say I’m dedicated, honest, and a trustworthy person.
What is your favorite memory?
The day I got admission into university is my favorite. If I could go back in time, I would go back to my university life.
With an interest in cricket, and a love of family and friends, Harun shows his dedication every day in the office. Thank you Harun, for everything you do for the company!
