He is a living example of someone who you can learn to do smart and efficient work from. He is a fun loving guy and his client loves him. He produces top notch work which has been recognized worldwide. I really appreciate what he has been doing and I want him to keep up the good work. The sky’s the limit!”
Even his client had only wonderful things to say, “Ghufran is a pleasure to work with. We are very fortunate that he has been able to be a part of our team. His sense of humor, hard work and team player mentality is invaluable. Even though these past few months have been very busy he has kept his sense of humor and willingness to go that extra step to get the job done. He is a fun talented individual that I am happy to know and work with.”
We had the pleasure of getting to know this character better. Here is what he had to tell us.
So what got you started in the IT industry?
There were a great many things I wanted to be when I grew up, but with the computer I found my calling. They never complain no matter how much you use them! I ended up falling in love with computer design and explored different ways of expressing myself through it.
Can you tell us a little about your experience, where you started and how you got to where you are now?
I got my start as a graphics designer in an advertising agency where I mostly worked on the print side of design. I then learned multimedia, animation, and video editing and found work at a television company. I love to learn new things and I like work that is challenging, but I soon got bored of my job’s day-to-day routines so I switched to programming and was interested from the start. I left my job as a Non-linear Editor and Animator and joined a software house in my hometown. Being a quick learner, I quickly got adjusted to the new environment and technologies and received frequent promotions. Then one lovely morning I got a call from an Allshore representative and was introduced to this wonderful company!
What is your favorite design tool to work with?
I live on Adobe’s Creative Suite, and Photoshop CC is my tool for image editing and web graphics. I also enjoy working with Illustrator for design.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
I think the people are the most rewarding part of this company. Working at Allshore gives you a chance to be a part of a group of wonderfully talented people. To be honest, in the beginning I had started to regret my decision to work here and leave my hometown, but I found myself enjoying being here so much because of all the bright minds I found. I started out in the Islamabad office, but recently relocated to the office in Lahore. It is amazing to be able to enjoy working for this company no matter where I am. I am enjoying the company of so many inspiring people. Plus, I always adore the time I get to spend with my Customer Relations Managers Andrea and Brittany in our American office. They add an excellent kick to my day!
What is your best advice for a new comer joining our company?
This company gives you the freedom to be yourself, but it is absolutely required that you have great confidence in your abilities and learn to solve your own problems. While there are plenty of people who are capable of helping you, when you do it on your own you become your own rock star and that’s what really matters in the long run!
I was born and brought up in Multan which is a city right in the center of Pakistan. It’s known as the city of saints. I have a big family with three brothers and four sisters. I am actually fourth in the family and have three beautiful elder sisters. I am very much attached to them and love them all! We no longer live together, but we cherish the times when we can spend time together. We have a great sense of humor in my family, everybody cracks jokes and just has the best time. We like to cook, watch movies, play games and just talk for hours.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’ve dreamed about going to London, Scotland, and the country of Georgia all my life. Next year I am planning a trip to London where my eldest sister lives. I would love to travel there to see her and meet her two gorgeous kids!
Do you have a favorite quote?
“It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.”
If you could do anything you wanted right now, what would it be?
I would love to reverse time and bring back some of the most beloved people in my life. I would love to relive the time with my grandparents now that I completely value and better understand their love and presence in my life. I would love to see Sridevi Kapoor, my favorite actress, back on the big screen in all her glory!
What is your favorite memory?
My favorite memory is of staying at my grandparents’ house when I was younger. I used to sleep in my grandfather’s bed. My grandfather used to pray at night, and one night I woke up and found him struggling with his ablution so I hurried to help him do his prayers. That night he blessed me and I still remember his words and kindness.
Do you have any personal hobbies/interests?
I have plenty of hobbies and interests including poetry, digital paintings, Bollywood romantic songs, colorful movies, learning new technologies, dining out and pretty much everything that is not related to education!
After getting to know him, it’s easy to see why his friends fondly refer to him as Goofy. He certainly lives up to the name. When asked what role he could see himself playing in a movie he replied, “I would love to play a part in a romantic comedy like Adam Sandler’s role in Fifty First Dates.” Now that is a movie we would definitely want to see!
