A dedicated repairman and family-man, Atta is known to many who work at Allshore as a go-to guy. His Team Lead, Ali H., had this to say about him: “Atta is a one man army to be precise. He is a team man and highly adapt in new technologies. He has great leadership qualities for which he was rewarded a promotion to Dedicated Team Leader by his client. Always super-efficient to give suggestions and provide the best solutions. He’s probably one of the best we have in this company and I wish him all the very best for his future. You’re a true rock star buddy!!”
His Client Relations Manager, Andrea, told us: “It’s been great working with Atta for the past year and watching him grow into a valuable member of his client’s team. He always has a positive attitude and knows how to handle stressful situations. He is very hard working and has gone above and beyond for his client.”
He was able to take time out of his busy day to speak with us, and this is what he had to say.
What degrees do you have, and where and when did you get them?
I completed my Bachelors in Computer Science in 2006 from COMSATS Institute of IT in Lahore. I started my Masters in Computer Science that same year and graduated in 2009, and started work on my Doctorate in Computer Science which is pending for now. I decided to take a break from my studies, but I’m still trying to complete my thesis.
Tell us about your experience working with Allshore?
I love what I do. At Allshore, I have worked with a couple of clients and they have given me many different kinds of tasks, some that were not in my comfort zone. But still I like to take on the challenge. That’s how I’m able to learn new technologies, which is very important for any guy, especially in my field. I like having an opportunity to communicate with everyone in our US office, along with our clients. It is very valuable because it helps us to improve our communication skills. Also utilizing the tools we have such as hourly updates, the attendance room, and the announcement rooms helps me to improve my time management skills.
What is your best advice for any newcomer joining our company?
There are many chances to grow within this company. I joined as a Principal Software Engineer. Since then I’ve been promoted up to a Dedicated Team Lead and there is still room for growth. Whenever someone joins a new company, they must join it for what it is, not for what they expect it to be, and not what their previous employer offered you. Work hard to prove yourself worthy for what you are currently earning.
What is your favorite color, food, and movie?
My favorite color is black, and my favorite food is fried fish, and there is a local dish I also like called keema karelay. There are a couple of movies I like to watch like Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, and Inception.
When my cousin got married, we bought a few alarm clocks, placed them around his room and set them to go off every 15 minutes starting at midnight. There were more than 10 clocks and we placed them at different hidden locations around the room. You can imagine what happened when the first alarm bell went off. Then the next one went off, and the next, one right after the other. The next morning when he woke up, he came to us and he was not very happy but we couldn’t stop laughing. I will not forget that moment!
Do you like sports? Play any?
I like football (soccer) a lot. I was a member of my university football and hockey teams, and for more than three years our hockey team was the university champions. I was also a university champ of the chess team. Here in the office I play table tennis and I was runner-up last year!
Do you have any other hobbies?
I like to watch movies, play chess, and repair things around the house, which I can do easily. I’m also very fond of travelling.
Have you traveled to any interesting places? Any idea where would you like to travel to next?
I have visited places in Pakistan like Kashmir, Kaghan, Naraan, Neelum Valley, the Khewra Salt Mine, and the Kalabagh Salt Mines. The mines were about eleven stories underground with no fan but as cold as wintertime. There was water storage on all levels. There are two places I want to travel to next: the base camp of K2 in Karakorum Range in Pakistan. And Paris. It would also be awesome if I could visit the Allshore US office!
One of Atta’s favorite quotes is by Denis Waitley. “A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside” This sums up this proud family man. The one thing he wishes for is to be able to buy a house for him and his family. He also told us, “I love to spend time with my family, especially with my son. He just started to speak a few words like Papa, Mama, and Daado (grandmother). And he looks so cute while calling me Papa.”
