He always has a positive attitude and has an awesome sense of humor. He is a hard worker and knows what it takes to get the job done. He has done an excellent job in improving his technical and communication skills.”
Let’s see what this helpful guy has to say.
I was born in Iran, then when I was only a year old my parents moved to Pakistan. I grew up in the village of Chakwal, which is a district of the Punjab province.
What colleges did you attend and what degrees do you have?
I graduated with my Bachelors in software engineering from University of Engineering and Technology Taxila in 2007, and I completed my Masters in Software Engineering in 2013.
What got you interested in IT?
I became interested when I was in school and I started to interact with computers. My parents encouraged me to study according to my interests. I decided to select IT as my career as I was good at programming during my intermediate schooling. All of this led me to graduate with a Software Engineering degree.
What do you think it takes in order to remain successful in this career?
For me, the most important thing is to update your knowledge according to the changing needs of the industry. Secondly, we should always try hard to take the clients product to the finish line. Although the internet is always changing, and the client’s requirements change along with it, any project we work on should be complete in all aspects with all minor details figured out. It should be properly tested, properly documented, and properly managed in code.
What is your favorite thing about working in the office?
I love the fun environment of the office, within our team and with our clients. I am also part of the Be Vocal Club, I enjoy using the gym area for exercise, and love the table tennis matches we have frequently!
Can you tell us about your family and what you guys like to do for fun?
I live in Islamabad with my wife and younger brother, while my parents still live in my home village. I love to visit different places during the holidays. I love hiking, swimming and reading good poetry.
Where have you visited, and where is next on your list to go to?
I have visited different areas of Pakistan including Kashmir, Gilgit, Skardu, Karachi, Naran, and the Kaghan and Swat Valleys. I am planning to go to Naran and visit Ansoo Lake with my family this next summer. I have visited many lakes in the northern areas of Pakistan, and the most beautiful ones are situated in mountain ranges. They are at least a day’s hike from basecamp, so I love hiking and camping near lakes.
I spend time daily reading books including technical, literature and poetry. I enjoy reading Urdu literature and the Harry Potter series, along with the O’Reilly Head First books for programming and design reference.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Flying! I’d love to have the bird’s eye view! I want my vision to be as wide as possible and flying will be a great adventure!
If you could play a part in a movie, what sort of character would you want to play?
I would like to play the character of a super hero and have magnificent powers to be able to solve people’s problems and to be able to create one system of justice in the whole world. Some kind of Greek god!
What is your favorite memory?
I have a few favorite memories, most including recreational trips I’ve taken with my friends and collogues. Last summer, I enjoyed our trip to Kashmir Valley. It was a great experience and we had a lot of fun! We travelled and hiked to many places and enjoyed a bonfire at night. I had a great time!
It’s very clear that Ali not only has amazing engineering skills, but also a very healthy sense of adventure. “There are lot of things which I want to do before I die. At the top of my list is to climb up K2 and Mount Everest, to travel the depths of our oceans, and to see a 100% literacy rate in Pakistan.” Whether it be on the top of a mountain or in the depths of a thrilling novel, it’s easy to see his adventurous spirit come alive.
